a twenty-fun birthday

hey everyone! so if you know me, you know i've just had a birthday. a kind of special birthday. that's right. i'm 21 now. i'm finally legal. and because this was an exciting stepping stone in my life (you know, right up there with getting married and having a child or like graduating... stuff like that), i thought i would give a recap of my day.

well, i started my day at work. i was originally scheduled to be off but a coworker was sick and i didn't have plans until around noon anyways so i went to work for a couple of hours. and to be clear, i really like my coworkers and i only live five minutes away from work. otherwise that would have been a hard pass.

following my unexpected, yet brief, shift at work, was a quick drive home to get ready for the day. i spent about half an hour running around and desperately trying to put an outfit together. then i realized that i was wasting precious skin prep and makeup time so i switched over to that hassle. i finally tried out my lily lashes in the miami set and they were gorgeous but definitely took some getting used to.

so after i finally got ready, i went to go pick up my friend valerie, and we went to the abc store. and of course, i got my incredibly basic picture. thank god. and i'm not ashamed of the fact that i had to get them to change the date on the sign since you can technically by alcohol the day before your birthday. so basically the sign said 2/20 instead of 2/19 but the lady was really friendly and let me live out my birthday goals. oh, and let me just say, the whole time i was at the abc store, i felt like they were gonna call the cops and kick me out for being underage even though i know i'm not.

afterwards, i went to lunch at ford's fish shack, which is a really nice seafood restaurant. up until this past week i had never actually tried the seafood but i had the best salmon of my entire life. like this was the ruth chris of salmon. like actually. so good. it was sort of a late lunch since i took a while to get ready but my dinner wasn't until a little after 8 so all worked out in the end.

lunch was great and valerie and i had fun, but i ended my night with my family. for dinner i went to uncle julio's. i mean it was only right to have my first legal drink be a margarita. it's basically my right of passage into adulthood. i got carne asada and enchiladas which were amazing. i had a strawberry margarita (pictured below), and for the grand finale, we had a chocolate piñata full of mini churros, fresh strawberrys, and chocolate empanadas (which were to die for).

all and all, i had a great birthday. i can't believe i'm finally 21. it all feels kind of surreal still. but i'm glad i was able to celebrate it with my friends and family.
